Carolina, who originally hails from Argentina is a movie buff through and through. She enjoys nothing more than binge-watching the latest Netflix series and is a big fan of their 'Originals' line. Her favourite movie is Frozen and she's a big fan of The Good Place & The Dragon Prince.
The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is coming to France between June 7th and July 7th, and if you want to watch it, we’ve got all the details you’ll need.
Although women’s football is gaining in popularity, it isn’t nearly as popular as men’s football.
What does it mean?
Well, it’s pretty hard to watch it. And if you want to watch for free or without paying for an expensive cable subscription then the task is made even more difficult.
In the UK, the whole tournament is going to be shown on the BBC through its different platforms, including their online streaming service BBC iPlayer.
On the online platform, only a few games will be missing, but essentially the entire tournament is going to be shown with as many as three games per day.
The thing is BBC iPlayer is only available in the UK, and if you want to access it from a different country you’ll find that geo-blocking stops you.
But don’t worry. In this guide I’ll show you how you can unblock it to enjoy the Women’s World Cup whatever country you’re in.
What I need to watch
To skip the geo-blocking, you’ll need a VPN. It’s a basic security app used by millions of users daily. One of the features is letting you disguise your location.
There are hundreds of different providers but some of the most recommended and reliable include the likes of ExpressVPN, NordVPN and IPVanish, so look out for these three.
But what is a VPN?
A VPN is a ‘virtual private network’ meant to protect your privacy online, although that’s its primary function it also allows you to access blocked streaming content from other countries.
How?
By concealing your real location and allowing you to choose the one you prefer – in this case, the UK, which is showing the Women’s World Cup games.
Where can I get a VPN?
As I mentioned already, there are several options regarding a VPN service. Quickly Googling ‘VPN’ will leave you with a bewildering array of options.
ExpressVPN is my recommended choice because it offers fast speeds, which is something you should consider for watching live streaming video. They also have a 30-day back money guarantee in case you don’t like the service.
NordVPN and CyberGhost VPN are two other decent alternatives with a similar service and fee and you are free to choose based on your preference.

Step 1
First, you need to create an account with the service you have chosen such as ExpressVPN and provide your payment details.
You’ll need about a month of service for the entire Women’s World Cup but it’s 49% cheaper if you take their annual package allowing you to watch loads of other sports throughout the year.
Step 2
Next, you need to download and install the VPN app on the device you want to watch on.
You’ll find all the app versions available for the different devices and OS in the Products section of the website.
Also, if you’re on a mobile device (Android or Apple iOS), you can search ‘ExpressVPN’ in your regular app store.
Step 3
Once, you installed the app, you have to log in with the account details you created in Step 1.
Step 4
Now you’re logged, you need to connect to the UK.
It’s the same whether you’re watching on a computer, tablet, phone or any other device. Press the Selected Location button and choose United Kingdom.

Brazil is among the strong options too. They won the Copa America Femenina, and they have one of the most experienced players in the whole tournament.
France, the host country, has hopes of keeping the cup at home. They enter the tournament in the fourth place after USA, Germany, and Italy.

In Summary
The eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup is going to start soon, on June 7th.
Sadly, women’s football is not as popular as men’s, and that’s the reason it’s difficult to find somewhere to watch the tournament depending on what country you’re in.
It’s mostly available on cable networks. But, in the UK, the BBC is showing the games for free, and most of them are going to be available on their streaming platform BBC iPlayer.
Due to the geo-blocking, it can’t be watched outside the UK directly, but by using a VPN like ExpressVPN, you can, allowing you to watch in any country.
All you need to do is to subscribe to their service, create an account, get the app, and choose the UK as your location to start enjoying all the girl power in this edition of the Women’s World Cup.
