Chris has a passion for helping you watch your favourite TV abroad. When he isn't helping you he can be found watching football, browsing Netflix or watching a good documentary.

In this guide I’ll be showing you how you can watch the entire The Masters tournament online from anywhere in the world.

The Masters is back and if you’re a Golf fan then it’s a tournament you won’t want to miss.

Finding a place to watch The Masters that doesn’t involve paying for an expensive cable subscription is seriously tricky.

Most countries only show The Masters on cable networks and in others it’s not shown at all.

The good news is some countries show the event entirely for free and in this guide I’ll be showing you how you can watch those.

This means you can keep up with all The Masters’ action live, for free, whatever country you are in the world.

How to watch The Masters free

As we already discussed, most countries show The Masters on cable networks.

However, in Australia it’s shown completely for free by Nine Network.

Nine Network have an online streaming service called 9Now and it’s here you’ll be able to watch all The Masters live or on catch-up.

… but not so fast.

If you visit their website or use their app outside Australia, you’ll be blocked.

What a pain huh? Well it doesn’t need to be.

By using a quick and effortless app called a VPN you can pretend you are in Australia which lets you unlock 9Now and live stream the entire The Masters tournament.

Where can I get a VPN to watch The Masters?

A quick search of your favorite search engine (cough, Google) will throw up hundreds upon hundreds of VPN results.

You see there are many companies out there selling VPN services.

Not all work for watching The Masters on 9Now, so it’s essential you don’t just sign up for any.

After some extensive testing I found ExpressVPN to work the best because they’re easy to use and fast which is great for streaming live sports.

There are some other options though and the choice is yours, select one of these three.

  1. ExpressVPN – Recommended choice!
  2. IPVanish
  3. NordVPN

Once you’ve chosen one of the three above follow the steps below to watch The Masters.

How to use the VPN to watch The Masters

Step 1: Sign up for a VPN

First, choose one of the three VPN services from above.

If you can’t decide then select ExpressVPN as they’re my recommended choice.

You’ll only need their minimum one-month account, but it’s worth taking their year package as it works out 49% cheaper than paying monthly.

You’ll be able to watch tons of other golf and sports all year round if you do.

Step 2: Download the VPN app and login

Now, download the VPN app.

You can get the ExpressVPN app from your regular app store or download their desktop app from their website in the ‘VPN Apps’ area.

Once you’ve downloaded the app open it and login. You should use the account details you created when you signed up.

Step 3: Connect to Australia

To unblock the 9Now service which is live streaming The Masters you’ll now need to connect to Australia.

With ExpressVPN press ‘Choose Location‘ (1) or on a mobile device the ‘…’ next to Selected Location.

Then choose ‘All‘ (2), ‘Asia Pacific‘, then ‘Australia‘ (3) and then ‘Australia – Sydney 3‘ (4).

You may also need to press ‘Connect‘ depending on what type of device you’re using.

When is The Masters being shown?

This year’s tournament kicks off on Thursday, 11th April 2019 and runs for four days until Sunday, 14th April.

Live coverage starts daily from 08:15 am local time in Georgia, United States. You can tune in to watch from this time.

Where is The Masters taking place?

The Masters takes place at Augusta National Golf Club which is in the city of Augusta in Georgia, United States.

Who’ll be taking part this year?

As with every year, The Masters is a who’s who of the golfing world.

Rory Mcllroy is the one to watch this year and is the likely favorite to win the tournament.

All eyes will of course be on golfing legend Tiger Woods but in my opinion it’s unlikely he’ll be taking the title this year around.

History says he’s a definite contender though and as a hero of the sport it will be exciting to see him taking part as usual.

Up and coming youngsters will be the biggest threat for Mcllory with Dustin Johnston, Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas all ones to watch.

Pundits are of course backing Mcllroy but there are one or two favoring Justin Thomas and a splattering of other names predicted to do big things this year.

Summary: Live stream The Masters

If you don’t have access to a cable subscription, then you don’t need to worry.

By using a simple VPN app you can unlock the official Australian live stream of the tournament and watch The Masters anywhere in the world.

Sign up to ExpressVPN, download their app and connect to Australia.

You can then watch The Masters for free without cable in your country.
