Stargirl is an American drama web series produced by Warner Bros. for their video-on-demand streaming service, DC Universe.

The show premiered in the USA on May 18th on the streaming platform and the following day on The CW and its digital services.

But what happens if you live outside the USA, and you want to watch Stargirl?

Well, for now, it’s only available in Spain on HBO. But, otherwise, you’ll have to wait until it lands on cable networks… or not.

Keep reading this guide, and I’ll show how you can watch Stargirl outside the USA and without cable!

Where is Stargirl shown?

Stargirl was produced initially for DC Universe, a streaming platform belonging to Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

Each episode is released on this platform every Monday, and the next day it airs on The CW, getting available free for streaming on The CW digital platforms as well.

Outside the USA, the series airs on HBO Spain and other European countries, but of course, you need to pay for a cable subscription or HBO Go.

If you want to access either the paid DC Universe video-on-demand service or to The CW free streaming platform, you’ll find you can’t because both services are blocked outside the American territory.

However, there’s a straightforward solution to this that’s going to not only allow you to watch Stargirl but also, to save you from paying an expensive cable fee.

What you need to watch it outside the USA

When it comes to unblocking content unavailable due to geo-restrictions, a VPN is the only solution.

But what is a VPN?

It’s a virtual private network whose primary goal is to protect your privacy online by allowing you to change your location.

How does this work?

The VPN works as an intermediate between your devices and the internet, and by choosing the location you connect to, your online activity remains somewhat anonymous. This also allows you to avoid the geo-restriction.

There are a lot of VPN services on the market, but sometimes it’s hard to choose the right one fitting your needs. That’s why I recommend ExpressVPN, which is the best.

The reason?

Well, ExpressVPN has faster connection speeds, which is great for video streaming, it’s effortless to configure and use, and they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee in the case you don’t like the service.

Also, if you subscribe to the yearly package, you’ll get a big discount!

Of course, there are other great options like NordVPN and Cyberghost, which offer very similar services for around the same fee, so you’re free to pick.

As I mentioned before, the yearly package is the most cost-effective one. So, if you can afford it, go for it!

Now, you need to create an account using your email address and choose the payment method of your preference.

Step 3

To get the app, go to the ‘Products‘ section where you’ll find all the available apps for the most common devices.

In 2012, when the Arrow series, based on the Green Arrow character from DC Comics was created and began airing, somehow it was also the beginning of the so-called Arrowverse.

Currently, the Arrowverse is an American media franchise comprising of TV series, both live-action and animated, that interconnected with each other and are primarily aired on The CW and the online platform The CW Seed.

Although Stargirl and her superhero team appeared for the first time in the Arrowverse crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths, which aired in January 2020, the series is set in Earth-2.

So for now, all the events and characters in Stargirl aren’t going to be connected to the ones in the Arrowverse.

According to the showrunners, they want to built and develop Stargirl characters and own situations first before thinking in any crossover yet.

Who’s writing and producing the show?

Geoff Johns is Stargirl’s showrunner and creator.

Johns comes from the comic-book world as a writer and also works as a screenwriter and film and television producer. He was the President and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of DC Entertainment from 2016 to 2018.

Besides creating Stargirl, he has co-developed The Flash TV series and Titans.

Regarding films, his credits include being one of the producers in Green Lantern (2011) and Justice League (2017) and co-writing Aquaman (2018) and the screenplay and story for Wonder Woman 1984 (2020).

Brec Bassinger plays Courtney Whitmore known as Stargirl. She’s a young American actress known for her roles of Bella in Nickelodeon’s Bella and the Bulldogs and Emma in The Haunted Hathaways.

Luke Wilson (Legally Blonde, The Royal Tenenbaums) plays Pat Dugan, Courtney’s stepfather and former sidekick to Starman.

He’s a mechanic who pilots a 15-foot robot, S.T.R.I.P.E., that he made from spare car parts. He also works as a mentor to Courtney and becomes a member of the new Justice Society of America.

Yvette Monreal completes the cast as Yolanda Montez / Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel / Doctor Mid-Nite, and Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler / Hourman among others.
