Is Planet of the Apes on Disney Plus?
Carolina
Carolina, who originally hails from Argentina is a movie buff through and through. She enjoys nothing more than binge-watching the latest Netflix series and is a big fan of their 'Originals' line. Her favourite movie is Frozen and she's a big fan of The Good Place & The Dragon Prince.
Through the decades, Planet of the Apes has turned into a solid franchise that perhaps hasn’t been as widely popular as Star Wars, Harry Potter, or Marvel movies. However, it earned its rightful place among big sagas.
From the beginning, the franchise has been in the hands of 20th Century Fox, which was the producer of the first film. Now that Fox is part of Disney, all the Planet of the Apes rights are on Disney’s side.
So, what happens when you want to watch all the Planet of the Apes films on streaming? Are they on Disney+? If so, are they available for all countries?
Keep reading this article to find out all the answers!
How to watch all Planet of the Apes movies on Disney Plus
The short answer is Yes, but it’s not as easy as logging into your Disney+ account and searching for them.
The Planet of the Apes films are on Disney+ in the countries where the Star brand is part of the catalogue. Meaning you can find them in Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
If you live, for example, in any country of Latin America, you’ll find them on Star+, which is a separate streaming platform from Disney+.
Also, not all movies are available in all countries. However, Canada and Singapore have them all.
What do I need to watch Planet of the Apes on Disney+?
If you don’t live in any of the countries where the Star brand is available on Disney+ and you don’t want to pay for an extra streaming platform, you’ll need a little help accessing Planet of the Apes films.
A VPN like ExpressVPN is the solution for these cases.
If you already have a Disney+ subscription, you can easily connect to one of these countries as if you were in one of them, unlocking the movies with your regular Disney+ account.
Also, with a VPN, you keep your connection and online activities protected because the primary goal of a VPN is that. By connecting to a server in another country, your IP address remains concealed, and all you do on the Internet is kept (mostly) anonymous.

Which VPN is the best?
This is the million-dollar question. If you do a quick search on Google, you’ll find a lot of VPN services, all claiming they’re the best.
Although some of them are telling the truth, it’s also a fact that most of them are promising features they don’t fulfil.
To make things easier for you, we have already made a selection of which VPN is worth your money and time after testing many of the most popular options.
Our first and main recommendation is ExpressVPN, which is the best by far. ExpressVPN outstanding features include:
- the fastest connection speeds;
- a user-friendly app available for all systems and devices;
- a 30-day money-back guarantee if you aren’t satisfied with the service.
Of course, if you want more than one option, we also recommend NordVPN and Surfshark. Both of them are very close to ExpressVPN in features and performance.
The final decision is yours!

What’s Planet of the Apes about?
The Planet of the Apes films are based on the 1963 novel La Planète des singes by French author Pierre Boulle. The first movie was an adaptation of the novel, while the subsequent films were inspired by the universe Boulle shows in the book.
In a distant future, a crew of astronauts crashes on a mysterious planet where talking intelligent apes are the ruling species and humans are treated like animals.
Planet of the Apes films
The franchise has spawned a total of 9 films between the original saga, the remake, and the Caesar trilogy.
Original Movies
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Adventure, Sci-Fi – 112 min.
A spacecraft crew crashes on a faraway planet where talking apes rule the world and humans are slaved and treated like animals.
Starring Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans, James Whitmore, James Daly, and Linda Harrison.
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)
Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi – 95 min.
Set right after the events of Planet of the Apes, the film follows astronaut Taylor (Charlton Heston) and the mute girl Nova (Linda Harrison) as they’re escaping from the ape city in search of a new life.
But their journey will lead them to discover a secret beneath the earth: an underground city ruled by telepathic humans.
Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971)
Action, Sci-Fi – 98 min.
When three talking chimpanzees arrive in a US spacecraft at Washington, the world is shocked. And while they became the focus of the whole society, a man believes they’re a threat to humankind and plots to destroy them.
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972)
Action, Sci-Fi – 88 min.
In a futuristic world, apes have been enslaved by humans. Caesar (Roddy McDowall), the surviving son of chimpanzees Cornelius and Zira, was raised by Armando (Ricardo Montalban), a circus owner, who kept him hidden from the authorities.
Now, Caesar is going to start a rebellion to free the apes and take control of society.
Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973)
Action, Sci-Fi – 93 min.
The final instalment of the saga follows Caesar years after a nuclear war destroyed humankind. Now the world is divided into factions, and Caesar has become the leader of a new society he tries to create in which both apes and humans can live in peace.
But things aren’t going to be easy because mutated humans due to the radiation hide in a city under the command of Governor Kolp, who wants to declare war on Ape City. In the meantime, Aldo, the gorillas’ leader, takes his group away to start a revolution.
Remake
Planet of the Apes (2001)
Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi – 119 min.
The remake of the 1968 film was in the hands of Tim Burton after being several years in development hell.
With some subtle changes to the original film, the story follows astronaut Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg). He crashes his spacecraft on a mysterious planet where a species of talking apes rule the world and dominates a race of primitive humans.
The cast is completed with Tim Roth, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Clarke Duncan, Estella Warren, Kris Kristofferson, and Paul Giamatti.
Caesar Trilogy
Ten years after the release of Planet of the Apes, Fox decided to reboot the franchise. This means the new films aren’t a remake of the original ones or a sequel to the 2001 movie.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
Action, Drama, Sci-Fi – 105 min.
Writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver made this movie a reboot of the franchise by creating a new origin story for Caesar, the chimpanzee who was the main character in several of the original movies.
Although Rise of the Planet of Apes has some common plot elements with Conquest of the Planet of Apes, it can’t be considered a remake of it because the approach is totally different.
A substance created to help the brain repair itself is given to a chimpanzee named Caesar who gains advanced intelligence and the ability to talk.
Caesar gives this substance to other chimpanzees living in the same facility as him, and this ends up with an uprising against humankind by super-intelligent apes led by Caesar. The ensemble cast is composed of Andy Serkis, James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and David Oyelowo.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
Action, Adventure, Drama – 130 min.
Set 10 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, this sequel presents a world devastated by the consequences of the virus that wiped out most parts of humankind.
A growing society of super-intelligent apes led by Caesar is menaced by a struggling group of human survivors. The cast is composed of Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)
Action, Adventure, Drama – 130 min.
Although the film shares several similarities with Battle for the Planet of the Apes, it’s not a direct sequel because key events are different.
In this last instalment of the Caesar trilogy, apes and humans are in the wake of a war for supremacy. Caesar’s (Andy Serkis) faction is facing the menace of the Alpha-Omega platoon led by a cruel colonel (Woody Harrelson).
