Love and Death tells the story of Candy Montgomerie, a frustrated all-American housewife who embarks on an affair with Allan Gore, a member of her church group who also has relationship issues.
His wife, Betty, is pregnant, and after she gives birth, Allan starts to step back from the affair, which upsets Candy. The affair dwindles out, but Betty begins to suspect something happened, and when she confronts Candy, it is confirmed.
Betty confronts Candy with an axe, and Candy leaves, but Betty is later found dead. Allan confesses his affair to police, and Candy is questioned. She admits the affairs but not the murder but does later admit it to her lawyer.
At the trial, he makes the staggering revelation but pleads self defence. But with Betty’s body suffering more than 40 axe blows, can Candy avoid being convicted?
The main characters and their roles in the show
The main character is Candy Montgomerie, a frustrated housewife who embarks on an affair with Allan from her church.
Allan decides to work on his marriage and is making progress with his wife Betty, but Candy’s efforts to improve things with her husband Pat are less successful.
These two couples are at the centre of the show, but we also have two pastors at the church, Jackie and Ron, a lawyer who is also a member of the church congregation, Don Crowder, and Judge Ryan, who oversees the case.

Reviews of Love and Death are hugely positive on the whole, with praise for lead actress Elizabeth Olsen particularly strong.
