How to watch Crime outside the UK
David
David has been watching TV outside of his home country for over 12 years. In addition to his streaming expertise, he has a wealth of experience in watching sports and documentaries, having spent many years following these genres. He is an avid fan of The Detectorists and Blue Planet, and also has a keen interest in English football.
Since the success of Trainspotting, Irvine Welsh’s gritty Scottish-based novels have given an insight into life on the dark side in Scotland like no other.
He has attracted legions of fans, not just in Scotland and the UK but right around the world and many of the world’s best actors queue up to appear in any film, TV show, or play that he is linked with.
It’s little surprise then that the TV adaptation of his novel Crime has drawn such huge interest and plaudits from right around the world.
For fans of the series and of Welsh, the good news is that it is back for a second series, with the same award-winning cast and scripts as tight and powerful as ever.
Quick Guide: How to watch Crime anywhere
- Sign up for ExpressVPN.
- Download the VPN app, sign in, and select ‘United Kingdom‘.
- Go to ITVX.
- Start watching Crime.
However, while British fans will be rubbing their hands together in glee at the prospect, for fans travelling overseas, there is a problem because currently, Crime is only being streamed in the UK.
But worry not international fans. I live abroad myself and have the solution to your problem.
It’s a trick that will let you unblock the British streaming platform and watch Crime outside the UK. Just keep on reading to find out how.
Where is Crime being shown?
Crime is being streamed in the UK on ITVX. This is the recently rebranded ITV streaming service, which is free-to-access and where ITV is putting much of its original content these days, often before it shows on ITV 1.
That is certainly the case with Crime. But, while it is good news for British viewers, those based overseas will find that ITVX is geo-blocked outside the UK.
This means that you will need some help to watch Crime. And I have the answer to all your problems.
How do I watch Crime where I am?
If you are outside the UK for any reason and want to stream Crime live or on-demand on ITVX, you can do so with the help of a ‘VPN’ app.
A VPN, or virtual private network to give it its full name, is an online security and privacy app which redirects your internet data through an external location.
But a quirk of how a VPN works means that it is also able to unblock streaming services like ITVX too.
If you are overseas and connect to a UK-based location, you can make it look like you are in the UK even when you aren’t. This makes ITVX let you watch shows like Crime no matter where in the world you are.
Yes, it really is that simple. You just need to use a VPN, and all your problems are solved. You can watch Crime on ITVX from anywhere.
Where to get a VPN?
Choosing the right VPN is tough because there are hundreds of VPNs available.
To stream Crime and other shows on ITVX overseas, you will need a VPN provider that offers plenty of UK-based connections, fast streaming speeds, and apps that will work on all the devices you might use to watch.
After testing all the most recommended VPN apps with ITVX, I found the best VPN to go for is ExpressVPN.
It ticks all of these boxes and also comes with an impressive 30-day money-back guarantee, which gives you plenty of time to try before you buy.
If, for any reason, you aren’t convinced by ExpressVPN, two alternative VPNs you might want to consider are NordVPN and Surfshark VPN. They do everything we have detailed above too and also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee as well.
But I have been testing VPNs for years, and ExpressVPN is certainly my favourite. However, you’re free to choose!
