The premise of Black Snow
Black Snow tells the story of Detective James Cormack, who is given the job of reinvestigating a murder that took place in 1994 after a time capsule was opened up that provided new evidence.
The victim was a high school girl from the South Sea Islanders community in Northern Queensland. The killer was never found, and so is, presumably, still living amongst the community there.
As the investigation progresses, Cormack opens up a lot of old wounds in a community that was devastated by the killing and took a long time to heal.

The main character is Detective James Cormack, who is tasked with investigating the murder of Isabel Baker, who we see in flashbacks throughout the series.
We also meet the extended Baker family, including Hazel Glenda, Kalana, and Joe.
Other characters that appear, both in the present-day setting and in flashbacks as their younger selves, include Chloe Walcott, Hector Ford, Anton Bianchi, and Tasha Hopkins.
