On October 6th, the anticipated live-action superhero series from DC, Batwoman, was finally released on The CW in the US.
The series is already a huge success, but for the time being, is not available outside the US everywhere, apart from a few exceptions such as HBO in Spain.
For the rest of us though, there’s no official way to watch it leaving you dodging internet spoilers from those who can.
But it doesn’t need to be like this because there’s a neat way you can start streaming right now and in this guide you’ll learn how, but more on that later.
If you’re on the hype wagon as I am, keep reading this guide. I’ll be teaching you how you can watch Batwoman in any country.
Where and when is Batwoman shown?
Batwoman is airing on The CW, an American free to air network, every Sunday at 8 pm (US time).
The episodes are also available for streaming on The CW website shortly after its ‘live’ airing on TV.
The day after The CW release, HBO Spain airs the episodes, and they’re available on the online service HBO Go Spain as well.
So far, the series is not available for the rest of the world.
Probably, it will land on Netflix once the season is finished, but nothing is confirmed yet. And for sure it will be available on cable networks around the world.
Again, there’s no timescale or release dates confirmed so it could be some time off in the future.
If you want to follow the series now, The CW website has the episodes that have been released, but as I’ve already said – it’s blocked for those outside the United States.
Below you’ll learn how you can avoid this block and get streaming now.
What you will need to watch.
To skip the geo-blocking on The CW website you’ll need a VPN service. There are lots to choose from but my favourite right now is ExpressVPN.
But what is this?
VPN stands for ‘Virtual Private Network‘ and its intended purpose is to secure your privacy and security online by concealing your true location with another one.
By doing this, it enables you to pretend you’re somewhere else. In this case the US, see where I’m going with this?
Among all the options you can find, it’s the best. It has fast connection speeds which assure you a great quality video stream without the annoying buffering.
It’s also super easy to configure and use, and it has an offer of 49% off if you subscribe to its yearly package.
There’s also a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee in the case you aren’t happy with the service.

How to watch Batwomen outside the US
It doesn’t matter to which VPN service you subscribe, more or less, all of them work the same. But, let’s take ExpressVPN as the example.
Even if you’re not the best with technology you’ll be able to get this working in just a few minutes.
First of all, you need to visit the ExpressVPN website and choose a plan to subscribe to.
There are a couple of options, if you can afford it, the yearly package is the best one because it works out a lot cheaper than paying monthly.
You need to create your account with your email address, and to choose the type of payment method you prefer.
Once you’ve completed signup, download the VPN app from the Products section. There, you’ll find all the available versions of the app for all devices and OS.
You can also get the mobile apps from your regular app store.
With the app running on your device, log in using the account credentials you created in step 2.
Now is the moment to look for the correct location for your VPN.
Click the Selected Location (1) button and then choose United States (2). Depending on what device you’re using you may also need to press Connect.
Congratulations! Now you can access The CW website and watch Batwomen wherever you are.

What’s Batwoman about?
The series is based on the DC Comics’s character Batwoman created by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, and Keith Giffen.
Set in the Arrowverse, Batwoman follows the story of Kate Kane who is Bruce Wayne’s cousin.
After three years, billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego Batman disappeared, Kate decides to confront her demons and take the place of her cousin as the protector of Gotham City under the secret identity of Batwoman.
Kate Kane / Batwoman is portrayed in the comics as being of Jewish descent and as an open lesbian, characteristics that she conserves in the TV show as well.
So far, she has been the highest-profile gay superhero to appear in comics published by DC.
What’s the Arrowverse?
The Arrowverse is a fictional shared universe created by The CW. It’s made up of different series wich are based on DC characters. The main one being Arrow.
The five series are Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman.
You don’t need to follow all the series to understand one of them since they also work as stand-alone shows.
There have been five crossovers so far, where all characters appear together in the different series. This year’s current crossover is “Crisis on Infinite Earths”.
Who’s writing and producing the show?
Caroline Dries is the series showrunner. She also serves as the series executive producer and writer of the two episodes aired up to now.
She’s known for having written two series from The CW: Smallville and Melrose Place. She also was the executive producer on The Vampire Diaries.
Who stars in the show?
Ruby Rose was cast as Kate Kane/Batwoman since the studio explicitly looked for an openly lesbian actress to portray the character.
Rose is an Australian model, actress, and television presenter, who came into world fame for her character in Netflix’s series Orange Is the New Black. She also has important roles in movies like John Wick 2 and The Meg.
The cast is completed by Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf), Camrus Johnson (The OA), Nicole Kang (Orange Is The New Black), and Rachel Skarsten (Reign).
Batwoman is currently airing on The CW in the US, and it’s available for streaming on their website.
Sadly, if you live outside the US, you can’t watch it because it’s blocked.
There’s a simple solution to watch in your country by using a VPN.
By using ExpressVPN, you can skip the blocking and enjoy Batwoman among other The CW’s shows for free as if you were in the US.
That’s all there is to it, you can now sit back and enjoy the show ahead of your friends.
