The Amstel Gold race isn’t far away, it won’t be long before elite cyclists tackle this rigorous route that makes up one of the Ardennes classics (regardless of it taking place in the Netherlands).

In this article, I will be showing you how to live stream the Amstel Gold online no matter what country you are in.

You will be watching the event in full HD in a matter of minutes. So, let’s find out how.

When & where is the event taking place?

Amstel Gold is set to take place on Saturday, 10th October 2020 in Valkenburg aan de Geul, Netherlands.

The event is usually before Liège-Bastogne-Liège and La Flèche Wallonne take place. However this year it is after these two races before the cyclists head to Flanders and Roubaix.

The route is expected to be similar to 2019s, starting in the Maastricht market leading to three loops around the South Limburg hills.

The cyclists will then have to tackle some steep climbs up the Cauberg, and several other ascents before ending in a sprint to the Vilt-Valkenburg finish line.

The men’s race will be 265.7km, and the women’s will span 120km.

Where can I watch the race?

The 2020 Amstel Gold race will be available to live stream on Australia’s SBS Cycling Central channel.

But there is a small problem, you will only be able to access the channel if you are in Australia.

To get around this, you will need a bit of help from me, which I will cover in the next section.

How can I watch elsewhere?

To watch Amstel Gold live online from anywhere in the world, you will need to use an app called a VPN.

By using a VPN, you will be able to connect to the internet through servers located in another region.

Why does this help?

Well, by doing so you will be able to gain access to content that is regionally restricted. In this instance, you can connect to servers located in Australia and have full access to Australian content, including the live stream of the Amstel Gold Race.

Pretty cool trick isn’t it?

Now, let’s discuss your best options.

Where to get a VPN

So, you need a VPN and you have no idea where to start looking.

Let me take all of the confusion away from you. My number 1 rated VPN is ExpressVPN.

ExpressVPN is the ultimate VPN when it comes to fast connections. Having a fast connection will mean that you will have access to crystal clear streams of sporting events such as Amstel Gold.

They have a massive selection of apps that cover most of the popular devices out there, so you will be able to stream video content to any of your devices.

While ExpressVPN is my number 1 choice, you may want to shop around the market a little, in which case be sure to check out NordVPN and CyberGhost VPN.

Both are excellent VPN providers and which you choose is up to you.

Who’s taking part in the Amstel Gold Race?

There will be approximately 15,000 racers taking part in the Amstel Gold events. However, in the main race, there are a few stand out athletes to keep your eye on.

Last years men’s winner Mathias Van Der Poel (Corendon-Circus) will be looking to retain his position and to bring back 1st place again. However, 2018 winner Michael Valgren will be looking to spoil the party and will certainly put up some intense competition.

The women’s race is looking rather competitive also with 2019’s winner Katarzyna Niewiadoma looking to take home another 1st place medal. Still, she will have to beat Annemiek Van Vleuten who has been in good form of late.

Anything could happen in these races, if I know one thing for certain, it will be a close battle for the top positions.

Summary

The Amstel Gold Race will be holding it’s 55th edition on Saturday, 10th October 2020.

To watch the race live online, you will need to use a VPN so you can access Australia’s SBS Cycling Central and their live coverage of the event.

Follow the step by step guide above and sit back and enjoy the race.
