David

David

David has been watching TV outside of his home country for over 12 years. In addition to his streaming expertise, he has a wealth of experience in watching sports and documentaries, having spent many years following these genres. He is an avid fan of The Detectorists and Blue Planet, and also has a keen interest in English football.

Tubi is one of the most popular online streaming platforms in the USA, which will come as something of a surprise to readers outside the US and the handful of other countries where Tubi is available, as they have probably never heard of it.

Why is Tubi so popular?

Well, there are a couple of reasons. Firstly, it has an amazing range of movies and TV shows available to watch crossing almost every genre and format you can image. And secondly, Tubi is free.

If you are wondering just how popular Tubi is, as of January 2023 it had 64 million active users who could enjoy over 40,000 films and television series from over 250 providers including many of the big US production companies and lots of overseas content too.

As free services go, it is an incredible offering and one of my favourite streaming platforms out there.

But don’t just take my word for it. Writing in Business Insider, Angela Tricarico said of Tubi, “it’s a worthwhile addition to any streaming lineup”, while another review by Georgia Dixon noted that “Tubi has most of the bells and whistles of the subscription-based behemoths.”

If you can put up with the adverts, it will definitely become one of your favourites too and the good news is that there is a simple way to unblock and watch Tubi around the world too.

That means you can enjoy all that great, free Tubi content, from anywhere in the world.

In this guide, we will tell you how and give you just a taste of some of the amazing top movies and TV shows Tubi has to offer.

How to watch Tubi anywhere

At the time of writing, Tubi is only available in the USA, Canada, Australia, Mexico, India, and a handful of Central and South American countries.

I’m not based in any of those countries and there is a good chance you aren’t either. So, how can you watch Tubi where you are?

The answer is to use a Virtual Private Network or VPN.

A VPN is an online security and privacy app that lets you hide your real location and pretend to be located anywhere in the world by redirecting your internet traffic through an overseas server.

The best VPN to use to watch Tubi around the world is ExpressVPN. It has connection points in almost every country where Tubi is available.

It also has apps for all the top streaming devices, fast connection speeds, and comes with a great 30-day money-back guarantee and some great value deals.

Other VPNs you could look at include NordVPN and CyberGhost VPN, but neither is on the same level as ExpressVPN. I have tested them all and can vouch for ExpressVPN being the best VPN for Tubi.

Step-by-step: Stream Tubi in any country

Once you have chosen your VPN, this is all you need to do to unblock Tubi wherever you are. I have used this method all over the world and it has never once let me down.

Step 1

Visit the ExpressVPN website and sign up for their annual deal. It comes with a 49% discount and an additional three months free, making it the best-value option they have.

Step 2

Download and install the ExpressVPN app from either your device’s app store or their official website for security reasons. You can install it on multiple devices if you watch on more than one device.

Step 3

Log in to the ExpressVPN app using your new account details.

Step 4

In the app, click the Selected Location option and choose a server located in a country where Tubi is available. At the moment, the United States is the best bet so we would recommend a US server.

Step 5

Click the Connect button to establish a connection and then wait a few moments while ExpressVPN establishes a connection.

A huge favourite of mine, Kitchen Nightmares another Gordon Ramsay vehicle but a very different show. It centres on Ramsay’s mission to rescue failing restaurants on the brink of closure.

With his culinary expertise and no-nonsense approach, Ramsay attempts to revamp these struggling establishments and turn them into thriving businesses.

In each episode, Ramsay visits a different restaurant facing financial and operational catastrophe. He dives headfirst into the chaos, evaluating the menu, service, and kitchen practices.

Again, Ramsay doesn’t hold back when delivering brutally honest feedback, which often leads to intense confrontations with restaurant owners, chefs, and staff.

The series showcases Ramsay’s passion for the culinary arts and his commitment to helping these establishments regain their former glory.

It’s a rollercoaster ride of drama, culinary transformations, and emotional moments as Ramsay works his magic while dealing with stubborn owners and kitchen staff

Some shows are a huge success, others less so. But each is a compelling story from the restaurant industry coalface.

If you are a fan of Bachelor in Paradise, you may well also want to watch (or rewatch) The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. These iconic reality TV dating shows revolve around the quest for love and are dripping with romance.

The concept of both shows is centered on the star, either the Bachelor or the Bachelorette, who embarks on a journey to find their life partner. Over the course of several weeks, the star goes on one-on-one and group dates with the contestants, getting to know them and forming connections.

Each week, there are rose ceremonies where the star decides who continues in the competition and who goes home, ultimately leading to a proposal or declaration of love in the final episode.

6. The Masked Singer

The Masked Singer is a wildly popular singing competition (in my house at least) that adds a unique twist to the genre. The show features celebrities, often from wildly different fields like movies, sports, and entertainment, who perform in elaborate costumes that completely conceal their identities.

The concept revolves around these disguised stars competing against each other in a singing competition while a panel of celebrity judges and the audience try to guess their true identities.

Idris Elba’s portrayal of John Luther is a central and critically acclaimed aspect of the series. The show is known for its gripping storytelling, dark atmosphere, and the psychological cat-and-mouse games between Luther and the criminals he pursues, making it a compelling and intense crime drama.

I couldn’t move from my sofa for an entire series.

5. Hannibal

At the opposite end of the criminal justice spectrum, Hannibal is a psychological horror television series that delves into the twisted and chilling world of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer, and the main character in the movie The Silence of the Lambs, one of my favourite films.

The show explores the early career of FBI special investigator Will Graham, portrayed by Hugh Dancy, as he collaborates with Dr. Lecter, played by Mads Mikkelsen, to solve gruesome and baffling murder cases.

The series is characterised by its dark and unsettling atmosphere, intricate plotlines, and a cat-and-mouse dynamic between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter.

As Will becomes increasingly enmeshed in the mind games of the brilliant but psychopathic Dr. Lecter, he struggles to maintain his sanity and distinguish between good and evil.

The confrontations with Division’s operatives, especially with her former mentor and lover, Michael, played by Shane West, were some of the highlights for me. Their chemistry added a layer of depth and complexity to the story that I found really engaging.

Additionally, Nikita’s intricate relationship with Division’s enigmatic leader, Percy, portrayed by Xander Berkeley, added another layer of suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Movies

1. The Lincoln Lawyer

The Lincoln Lawyer is a legal thriller, directed by Brad Furman, that had me riveted from start to finish.

Centered around Mick Haller, a charismatic defence attorney played brilliantly by Matthew McConaughey, the film offers a unique glimpse into the world of criminal defense as Haller operates his practice out of his Lincoln Town Car.

Matthew McConaughey in an award ceremony jacket

He represents a slew of clients, many of whom teeter on the edge of legality. The story intensifies when Haller is hired to defend Louis Roulet, a compelling character portrayed by Ryan Phillippe, a wealthy young man embroiled in a chilling crime.

One of the things I really enjoyed about this film was the meticulous way the plot unraveled. As Haller dives deeper, he finds himself ensnared in a web of deceit, pushing the boundaries of his own ethics and revealing that Roulet’s case might be murkier than anticipated.

With a supporting cast including Marisa Tomei as Haller’s ex-wife, Maggie, and other incredible talents like William H. Macy, Josh Lucas, and John Leguizamo, the ensemble brings this legal drama to life.

It’s a rollercoaster of suspense, surprise twists, and moral quandaries, made even more compelling by McConaughey’s standout performance. Watching him grapple with the complexities of his role as a defence attorney in a murky world was truly a treat.
