When do the Euro 2020’s take place?

The Euro 2020 event kicks off on Friday, 11th June 2021 at 20:00 BST, starting with Turkey vs Italy.

The final will take place a month later, on 11th July 2021 at 20:00 BST, and will be held at the world-famous Wembley Stadium, London (UK).

With plenty of stiff competition, you can rest assured that whatever two teams make it to the final will have earned their place in history.

Where are the Euro 2020’s taking place?

This year’s Euro 2020 football competition will be slightly different to the usual format. Usually, all of the games would take place in one country or sometimes split between two.

However, this years event will be held across multiple countries all over Europe being hosted in numerous cities such as Amsterdam, Baku, Bucharest, Dublin, London, Munich, Rome, and more.

Some of the world’s best football stadiums will be used for football matches, which will be exciting for both fans and footballers.

That’s right, the fans are back! But in a somewhat reduced capacity that will vary from country to country.

You can look forward to seeing stadiums such as Saint Petersburg Stadium, Baki Olimpiya, Olimpico in Rome, Puskas Arena, Hampden Park, and Estadio La Cartuja, to name but a few.

As mentioned above, both semi-finals and the final will take place in the historic Wembley stadium on the 11th July 2021.

What star players to look out for?

While the exact teams haven’t been released yet, there are several players who will no doubt be picked to represent their country and hopefully be key players in bringing the trophy home for their team.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – This 22-year-old is the world-class RB (right back) that plays for Liverpool Football Club. His pace is something that is a nightmare for any defender on the opposing team and to make matters even worse for the opposition, he has one hell of a shot on him.

Jadon Sancho – He’s 19 and is ripping defences apart in the Bundesliga at the moment. He currently plays for Borussia Dortmund, but there are rumours of him going to Liverpool FC or Manchester United.

Erling Haaland – This guy is touted to be the next big name in football. Standing at a massive 6’4″, he has incredible pace and has scored 36 times in his last 31 appearances for his club Borussia Dortmund.

Kylian Mbappe – One of the world’s biggest football stars at the moment, this 21-year-old has 24 goals and 16 assists in 29 appearances for his team PSG. He is also the youngest French player to score at the World Cup. Having him in your team can make a mockery of any side.

Who’s favourite to win?

Out of the 24 nations competing in the Euro 2020 competition, two countries stand out at the moment and have very high chances of winning.

Both England and France currently have the strongest teams (on paper).

England has some of the best attacking forwards that they’ve had in years. Harry Kane (this year’s golden boot winner) will certainly be someone to keep your eye on, and Jadon Sancho too.

England also has a pretty solid defence with Trent Alexander Arnold on the wing, Harry Maguire (if fit) and John Stones in CB.

However, France has been outstanding over the past few years, mainly due to one name… Kylian Mbappe.

As mentioned above, he is world-class and can be the difference between winning or losing a game.

They also have some quality midfield players such as Adrien Rabiot, N’Golo Kante, and Moussa Sissoko, who all have the ability to control a game in the midfield.

Personally, I think England will take home the win (finally). They have a well-rounded team that shouldn’t be underestimated, but Southgate needs to get his tactics right if they come head to head with France.

What’s the format for Euro 2020

The competition is split up into several parts that consist of the following:

  • 3 days of Group stage matches
  • Round of 16
  • Quarter-finals
  • Semi-finals
  • Final

Each stage will be on a knock out basis, so if you don’t win your games, you won’t move on to the next stage.

This type of format will be something that you’ll be familiar with if you watch other football competitions such as the UEFA Champions League or the World Cup.

Each stage will become progressively more challenging as the weaker teams will be filtered out of the competition.

How does a VPN work?

A Virtual Private Network or VPN for short works by allowing you to connect to your internet through another location (of your choosing). For example, the UK.

By doing so, you’ll be able to bypass any geo-restrictions that are in place on content such as the Euro 2020 football matches.

Your VPN will give you access to every game and more with the click of a button.

What else can I use the VPN for?

One of the most popular uses for a VPN such as ExpressVPN is to unblock regionally restricted content like the BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub. But, there are many other uses for a VPN.

For example, you can use ExpressVPN to unblock other region’s Netflix libraries, giving you access to tens of thousands of additional movies and TV shows that you’d typically be unable to find on your Netflix account.

You’ll also be able to use this trick with other streaming platforms such as Peacock TV, HBO Max, Hulu, and Disney+.

However, originally VPNs were designed as an internet security tool.

So not only will you be able to access new online content, but you’ll be able to add another layer of security to your devices that will protect you while you use the internet.

These are just a few of the most popular uses for a VPN.

Euro 2020 is almost upon us, and I’m sure you can’t wait for the first whistle to blow.

Every match will be shown on the UK’s ITV Hub and BBC iPlayer for FREE, which is something that not every country will be doing.

You might find that you have to pay to watch these games in your country which sucks.

Luckily, if you follow my step by step guide and get ExpressVPN, you’ll be able to access ITV Hub and BBC iPlayer from anywhere in the world so you can watch for free.

Get ExpressVPN now and watch all the games from the comfort of your sofa.
