Rio Paralympics

After the success of the Olympic games in Rio thoughts now turn to the Paralympic Games and if you want to watch live online you may find yourself disappointed.

While the Paralympic games are equally as important and the athletes show many able bodied people that anything is possible it is unfortunately the case that many broadcasters around the world don’t hold the Paralympic Games in as high regard as the Olympics and so won’t be showing the events on TV.

The good news is there are some broadcasters around the world who are showing the Paralympic Games and streaming the events live online such as Channel 4 from the UK.

If you try to access those sites outside the intended country then they’re blocked from viewing but the good news is that there is a way to watch the Paralympics live online from anywhere in the world and in this guide I’m going to show you how.

How to watch the Paralympic Games 2016 from anywhere

If you try and access the All 4 website from Channel 4 outside the UK to watch the Paralympic games then you’ll be blocked with a message similar to the following.

Content blocked

An example of a block message you may see.

The reason you’re blocked is because the Channel 4 website checks your internet connection and determines your location. Once it knows you’re not in the UK then it throws up the block message like above.

To watch the Paralympic games live online on All 4 from anywhere in the world you need to be able to disguise your online location.

The way to do this is to use a VPN. A VPN is a simple piece of software for your computer or app for your phone or tablet that allows you to disguise your location online and virtually reside elsewhere.

A VPN is really easy to use and below I’ll show you where to get one and the simple steps to use it to watch the Paralympic games from anywhere in the world.

Where to get a VPN

There is a confusing array of choices when it comes to VPN services and a quick search of Google can leave you confused and exhausted.

With so many companies offering VPN service it’s difficult to know who to sign up to because they all make claims about their speeds and quality of service and you have no way of knowing if those claims are actually true.

I’ve been testing some of the leading VPN providers to see which work best with All 4 and will allow you to watch the Paralympics live online from anywhere in the world. I found the following three to be the best options.

All you have to do is click one of the names below, visit their website and sign-up.

  1. IPVanish
  2. ExpressVPN
  3. Overplay

Or you can click the green button above to visit my recommended provider.

Once you’ve signed up read below where I’ve put together the really simple instructions which will show you how you can use the VPN to watch the Paralympics live online from anywhere in the world.

How to use the VPN

Once you’ve signed up to one of the providers above the process is really simple.

All you need to do is download the software for your desktop computer or app for your tablet or phone.

Once downloaded and installed it’s simply a case of connecting to a United Kingdom server and then visiting the All 4 website using this link.

The process is the same on both Windows and Mac computers and it’s even easier when using the apps on a mobile device.

I’ve put together a more in-depth guide using IPVanish but the process is practically identical with the other providers too.

IPVanish:

  1. Visit the IPVanish website and sign up.
  2. Download their software from the VPN Apps section.
  3. Install and run.
  4. Click Server Selection.
  5. Click UK Media and Gaming.

The IPVanish software will now take care of connection for you.

Once connected all you need to do is visit the All 4 website when the Paralympic events you want to watch are being shown.

If you receive any errors from All 4 simply disconnect from IPVanish, press Server Selection, then press List and type “United Kingdom” into the Search Box. Choose another server from the list and connect then re-try All 4.

Enjoy watching the Paralympic Games from anywhere in the world.
