With over 10 years of experience he has become the go-to guru for streaming content from home and abroad.

If you’ve been looking for a way to watch Presto outside Australia then this guide will be the solution.

If you’ve signed up for a Presto account and you want to watch when you’re outside Australia then you’ll know like me that you’re out of luck.

Presto like most streaming services in Australia such as Stan and others around the world lock you into watching from within the country the service is intended for. In the case of Presto, this is Australia.

So if you’re an Aussie expat or you’re travelling outside of Australia for a period of time then you end up paying for a service that you can’t use.

The good news is there is a totally legal tool that will allow you to watch your Presto account outside Australia from any country in the world and in this guide I’m going to show you exactly how easy it is to use.

How to watch Presto outside Australia

If you’ve tried to visit Presto outside Australia then you’ll already know that instead of being able to watch the shows and movies you want you’ll instead be hit with a block message similar to the one below.

Content blocked

An example of a block message you may see.

The reason you’re blocked is because the content that Presto show is only licensed to be viewed within Australia and when you visit the site it checks to see where you’re located.

It does this by looking at something called your IP Address and it is this that allows Presto to see your location.

The good news is you can get a different IP Address from another country by using a simple tool called a VPN. A VPN allows you to disguise your location by issuing you a completely different IP Address.

So if you’re in the United States for example then you’ll have a United States IP Address but with a VPN you can get yourself an Australian IP Address and instead of being blocked from viewing Presto you’ll be able to watch any show or movie as if you are in Australia.

So let’s find out where to get a VPN and how to use it.

Where can I get a VPN

VPN services are available far and wide now. Their original purpose is to protect your online privacy and with that being a hot topic it means there is a ton of choice available.

Choice is great but one problem is it’s impossible to know which provider to choose. They’re all similarly priced but the service can vary from good to bad and when streaming video content from a service like Presto you need to make sure you get a good service.

I’ve been testing a selection of the best providers to find out which are the best for Presto and put my three favourites below. I found ExpressVPN to be the fastest which reduced any buffering issues but the other two also make good choices.

  1. ExpressVPN
  2. IPVanish
  3. NordVPN

All you have to do is click on one of the names above to visit the provider’s site and then sign-up.

Once you’ve signed up continue reading below where I’ll show you how you can use the VPN service to watch Presto outside Australia.

How to use the VPN

Once you’ve signed up to your chosen provider from the list above the process is easy. All you need to do is download the software or app for your device.

Once downloaded and installed simply login and connect to an Australian server. The software and apps will make it clear how to do this and it’s simply a case of selecting Australia and the app will take care of the rest of the work.

For a little more in-depth detail I’ve put together a guide on how to use ExpressVPN on a Windows computer but the process is the same on a Mac too. The other providers have the same process but the layout of their software is a little different.

Apps are even easier and are self-explanatory.

ExpressVPN:

  1. Visit the ExpressVPN site by clicking here and sign up.
  2. Download the ExpressVPN software from the Products section of their website.
  3. Install and Run it.
  4. Press Selected Location.
  5. Press All Locations, press Asia Pacific, press Australia.
  6. The app will automatically connect but if not press Connect.

Unblock Presto using ExpressVPN.

The software will now do all the work for you and make connection.

Once connection is complete which should only take around 15 seconds you are now free to visit the Presto website where you’ll be able to login and watch any movie or show as if you were home in Australia.

You might be prompted for your login and password details the first time you connect but can save them for future use.

Enjoy watching Presto outside Australia.
